The Alabama State Parks enjoy visitors from all across the United States. It is not an uncommon occurance to have visitors from other countries and as you might expect, the parks are great wedding and honeymoon destinations. But when a couple from Scottland selects a state park as part of their honeymoon, well you just don’t see that everyday.

Parks Committed To Saving Energy

The Alabama State Parks, a Division of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, have secured Johnson Controls Inc. to help improve energy efficiency and facilities at six state parks. The announcement was made recently at a ground breaking ceremony held at Oak Mountain State Park in Pelham, where park and Conservation officials informed the public of their committment to efficient and sustainable energy.

Fishing Tournaments at State Parks

If fishing is your recreational pleasure then come visit one of our Alabama State Parks where you will find large catfish in Lake Martin at Wind Creek State Park, or a huge bass in the waters off Lake Eufaula; where Lakepoint Resort State Park is known as the “Bass Capital of the World.”  Some might even travel to the mountaineous area of either Joe Wheeler State Park or Lake Guntersville State Park and fish off the rivers of either of these good fishing destinations.

For all those that feel they are up to the challenge, Cheaha Mountain State Park, the hightest point in Alabama, will host the Sixth Annual Mt. Cheaha 50K Ultra Marathon Run on Saturday, February 26, 2011.

Gulf Entertainment Series

Make Gulf State Park your place to stay when attending one of the Gulf Shores Entertainment Series shows.  Gulf State Park has lakeside cabins and cottages. Other cabins are located in the woods within the park.  Our huge campground provides full hookups, with a new swimming pool facility, and you must visit the longest fishing pier on the gulf coast while visiting Gulf Shores.
