American Auto Trail-Virginia’s U.S. Highway 50

This installment in the American Auto Trails series crosses the northern section of Virginia. Beginning at Arlington on the Potomac River, the highway passes through the western suburbs of the Nation’s Capitol before passing into the hallowed grounds of the American Civil War. Once over the northern end of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the highway passes through Winchester at the top of the Shenandoah Valley and onward to the Appalachians of West Virginia.
